This year on Thanksgiving my husband and I ran our first Turkey Trot!
It was FREEZING!! 17 degrees is even cold for this Michigan gal when it comes to running!
Not only was this our first Turkey Trot, but it was also my first 10K. The 10K started at 7:30 and our heat crossed the start line by 7:40. It was off to a great start until after the first few minutes, my husband had to stop because something was wrong with his shoe. He has these fitted foot shoes and they were not on properly so they were hurting. We stopped for 5 minutes and he was able to get everything in line so we could complete the race!
Running through the city was a lot of fun. It even started to snow, but by that point we were finally warm so it was actually really nice!
My official time was 1:18:25
My husband stayed with me the whole time. Sometimes he would run ahead for a little bit then run back and run with me. Once he stopped to go to the bathroom and then caught back up with me. With no training at all he could have easily ran this race in under an hour. But I appreciated him staying with me and crossing the finish line together. I'm just proud that I ran the entire thing without stopping once!
After the race, we grabbed some breakfast, showered and then went to hang out at my brother's for the rest of the day. His awesome fiancé made dinner so we didn't have to worry about a thing!
Not only did we have a great Thanksgiving with family, but the Detroit Lions won!!! So I had a bunch of happy brothers, brother-in-laws and Uncles. It was awesome and I'm partial to believe that it was because Zachary rocked his first Lions Jersey!
Nice and very cute hat i must say. nice blog and very informative
ReplyDeleteWow well done that's a great time.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! And what a gift to have the snow - I LOVE running in the snow!
ReplyDeleteGreat run time! Congrats on finishing. I thank your right in your believe that the Lions won because of that jersey, he looks way to handsome in it for it to be a coincidence.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on making it to the finish line!
